I apologize that the BLOG is short and sweet but I am not as familiar with this as Mrs Hayes. Please be patient with me! I am also sure your child would love to share their learning activities with you.

We have had another busy week in Grade 1.

Math - We have started developing our understanding of number values from 1 -100.

Social Studies - We are looking at how a community is formed, what is a community, what does a community need to flourish. Friday 18th we shall be walking to the firehall in Parkland to understand more the role of firefighters in our community.

Science - We are investigating liquids and solids and whether they are hot or cold. We are also determining which of these could be both hot or cold and if they take another form. e.g.Liquid water is hot but solid water has to be cold.

Language Arts - we are developing our reading abilities and working on recognizing word families. In writing we are focusing on our printing neatness.

Our Remembrance Day Assembly gave us the opportunity to think about the veterans who gave so much so we could live a life that is free from conflict. The students did a lovely job of drawing poppies in Flanders Field. Landen and Everly represented the class by placing our wreath at the cross.
