Big Brave
*I can work together as a community to reach shared goals.
Wow, wow, wow! What an incredible fundraising effort! Thank you so much to everyone who donated. Students were so excited to learn about Camp Kindle, Terry Fox and participate in the Big Brave event. Thank you to our Big Brave committee, (Ms. Hatchette, Mr. Newman, Ms. Craik, Ms. Drever, and Mrs. Sampson) your time and organization truly show your dedication to this amazing organization. The fabulous Ms. Pearl took some beautiful photos of our students who participated. Thank you so much!
Literacy
This week we started to explore "Reader's Theatre"... ask your child about their plays.
Reader's Theatre Intentions:
Improves fluency: *I can use proper speed, accuracy, and expression.
One of the best ways to improve reading fluency is to read a text multiple times. With reader's theatre, students enjoy reading their part and working on their accuracy, speed, and expression. Students do not memorize their lines. Instead, they follow the script intently, waiting for their parts to be read with great fluency and expression.

Encourages cooperative learning: *I can accept feedback from peers.
Students need to listen to each other, respond with feelings, and work together. Reader's theatre develops listening and speaking skills. Students have to listen to their classmates to know when it's their turn to speak, and the "theatre" part of reader's theatre allows students to use their voices more dynamically than they typically do when reading aloud.

Have a wonderful weekend!
