Hello Families, Grade 1 has had another busy week of learning! National Indigenous Peoples Day This week we focused on Indigenous Peoples Day. 6We recognized and celebrated the history, heritage, resilience, and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Metis across Canada. Thank you to our fabulous Grade 3 students for organizing an informative assembly.  Through intentional work around the Acknowledgement of the Land, we are able to engage in critical reflection and create personal connections to this important work in many meaningful ways and opportunities. We would like to acknowledge the traditional territories and oral practices of the Blackfoot Nations, which include the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai. We also acknowledge the Tsuut’ina and Stoney Nakoda First Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta. Hello Families, We had another active week in Grade 1! Wow! Our students loved the Sibbald Summer Games and Sports Day! Thank you so much to our volunteers for making Sports Day and the breakfast run smoothly. Your time is genuinely appreciated. *I can follow physical activity rules and play fair. *I can work in a team and follow directions. *I can demonstrate ways to improve my physical activities.  Fish Creek Park On Tuesday, June 20th Grade One classes will go on a community walk to  Fish Creek Park . We will walk down the hill at the bottom of Acadia Drive and Canyon Meadows Drive. This offsite field study will be an extension of our learning in the classroom and is directly connected to our curriculum. The learning intentions for our walk include: *I can identify seasonal changes in plants and weather. Please make sure your child is prepared for this walk and is wearing weather-appropriate clothing to walk and sit outside. Please pac

Hello Families, We had another wonderful week in Grade 1! Wow! Our students loved Classroom Camping! Our day was filled with wonder and excitement as students designed their tents, wrote about camping, drew pictures, played camping bingo, and told spooky stories. Thank you to all our volunteers this week who made this special day possible (Anne, Tara, Nicole, Jessica, Jennifer, and Victoria).  Check out our pictures below! Art: I can make drawings from observations. -Students drew a variety of camping-related pictures. Art: I can create art with an emphasis on personal concerns. -Students designed a tent in a group and shared what was important to them. Math: I can problem solve. -Students solved a variety of camping word problems. Social Studies: I can appreciate multiple points of view in groups and communities. -Students had to co-design a tent that met all group members' needs. Hello Families, Wow! We had another fun week of learning Grade 1! Volunteer Tea Thank you to all of our fabulous Grade 1 volunteers. I truly appreciate your time. Your continued support makes Sibbald a wonderful place to be. Thanks to everyone who joined us for the Volunteer Tea Your children did a lovely job singing their hearts out!
